Role of Renewable Energy in Climate Change

As we focus on implementing the Paris Agreement, we cannot deny the importance of renewables in mitigating climate impacts. Moreover, renewables are an important tool in adaptation activities and ensuring energy supply, particularly when communities are displaced. NDCs were pledged to cap global temperature rise by 2 degree Celsius, but it is clear that the NDCs do not go far enough. In your opinion, what is the role of renewables in combatting climate change? What is your opinion on what the role and scale of sustainable (renewable) energy should be in the future?

Please comment below; your opinion is valuable to us.

Nationally determined contribution alone are not enough. Each country, each government and each citizen must strive to increase the usage of renewable energy. The government's job is to put the framework and systems in place to usher in and encourage usage of renewable energy sources in addition to setting up infrastructures. Corporates can work along with governments and citizens to find solutions. Synergy between the energy producers, government and citizens can give rise to new value chains and opportunities for value creation in the process of increasing renewable energy production and usage. The pains and issues may be different from country to country and technology providers will have to work closely with the end users to find tailormade solutions. Incentives shall be given wherever required on both supply and demand side for faster popularisation of renewable energy sources and usage.
